GOLD
Ibraheem Naadir Sen
DATA
[/font]DATA
Class: Hybrid Pet. And proud of it.
Species: Golden Spitting Cobra
Name:
Nickname(s): Goldie, snake-boy, hissy-mc-hiss-alot (only Nicholas is allowed to call him this. Anyone else? Well, the'll get hissed at. And probably spat on....it's not a good idea to tick off a spitting cobra....)
Birthday: January 14th, 3028. A snake born in winter-its an irony Gold finds amusing.
Owner: Nicholas Whitestag- and Gold's proud of it. He's got the best Master of all as far as he's concerned. And if anyone wants to tell him other wise? Well, they can say it to Gold's face but needless to say he'll be less than happy about it. And quite happily, will defend Nicholas's honor,
Ability: Like most hybrids, Gold can change into his animal counterpart-a small gold cobra, still banded with youth. His saliva is also venomous, and he has the ability to spit venom much like the creature he is descended from. Because of this, his front canines are hollow, with small holes that allow the venom to shoot out. His venom is neuro-toxic in nature, and if ingested, can be deadly.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eye Color: Burnt Orange. Or copper if Gold is feeling poetic. He's got large pupils, and unlike most venomous snake hybrids, they're not slits but rather rounded. His pupils rarely dilate, and rather, tend to stay in a large rounded shape.
Hair Color: Golden-yellow. More of a sunflower color really, if you want be specific. It's styled in a bob
Height: 5'4". It might not be an intimidating height but well, Gold could care less. People tend to overlook him- that makes it easier for him to guard Nicholas.
Weight: 130 lbs. He's heavier than he looks, but then again, he's a cobra. You don't actually expect him to look heavy, do you? Of course, if he was a boa, that'd be a different story.
Build: Lean and wiry, Gold looks like a scrawny little stick of a boy and like he couldn't lift anything. Most of this is of course, true. But what he lacks in strength he makes up for in speed, who ever heard of a slow cobra after all?
Distinguishing Features: His cheeks are covered with gold scales, as are his neck, legs, arms and portions of his back and torso. The tip of his tongue is forked, causing speech to become somewhat difficult for him. His fingernails and toenails are actually scales as well, resulting in their gold color, and subsequently he looks as if he has nail polish on constantly.
Typical Dress: The only thing Gold seems to wear is a navy outfit composed of a fluffy tunic and a set of hose that Nicholas bought for him the night he was adopted as the other boy's pet. Gold treasures this deeply, as it was much better then the rags he was given at the HHS when he was taken there after his first master abandoned him. Unfortunately, he never seems to take it off. When he does laundry, what he wears is a mystery....
Orientation: He's too busy right now to worry about something so silly as romance. But if he had to like anything? He's fairly sure it'd be Nicholas. Does that make him Nicholas-sexual? Gold doesn't really know...but that sounds about right....still, even if that was the case, Nicholas is only twelve! And that's just a bit...eww....no for now, Gold is definitely too busy to worry about romance...but if someone nice were to come along well, Gold isn't adverse to trying to start up a romance. As long as they don't get between him and Master Nicholas of course.
Other Notes: Gold speaks with a slight lisp, and has trouble saying 'th' and 't' sounds- usually pronouncing them with a 'ss' sound, making 'this' sound like 'ssis' and 'the' sound like 'sse'. He's somewhat embarrassed over this, and tries to enunciate his words clearly, but this causes him to sometimes speak a bit slowly.
His saliva is venomous, and should it get in one's eyes or a cut, general pain follows.
PERSONALITY
Age: 14 supposedly. The adoption records could be wrong of course, but considering Idris has told him the same, Gold is fairly sure this is the truth.
Likes:
[Nicholas] Gold pretty much worships the ground Nicholas walks on. Why? Well needless to say the younger boy saved him from being euthanized by the HHS. Nobody wants to adopt a cobra after all. But Nicholas did-and that changed Gold's world forever. He's eternally grateful for that.
[the quiet] Gold's a fairly solitary person, at least when he's not following Nicholas around, and as such, he likes the quiet more often than not. Besides, no matter how loyal he is to his owner, Gold needs a bit of peace and quiet now and then.
[the sun] There's something about the sun that just make's Gold's heart flutter and he can happily stare up into its blazing rays (if only for a short time). For him, the sun represents everything good in the world. It's warm, cheery and just plaint toasty. The fact that he likes to sit in it just to bask in it's warm light? Mere circumstance. It's the feeling the sun gives him that he likes the most...the other things? Well, those are just perks as far as Gold is concerned.
[small spaces] Gold's never been one to be claustrophobic. Instead, he finds comfort in hiding in broom cupboards and finding the best little nook to bask in. There's something in the way the walls grip you tightly, like a hug, and it's just plain comforting. Whenever he's feeling upset, a small space- whether a small cupboard under the stairs or the space between a bookshelf and a wall, or even the shaft used to transport clothes, Gold tends to gravitate towards them. Unfortunately, this has lead to quiet a few mix ups. Needless to say, that servant Margaret wasn't altogether happy with finding him in the laundry chute curled up on some freshly cleaned clothes.
Dislikes:
[Cecilia] Gold doesn't like Cecilia Whitestag one bit. Everything about the woman irks him, from the dirty looks she sends her children to the rumors of poison he's heard she's been keeping in her drawers. The fact that she doesn't seem to like Nicholas, her son, irks him all the more. Oh yes, Cecilia better watch herself- the moment she tries to do anything towards Nicholas, she's going to be in trouble.
[talking] It's more of an irk than anything, but Gold dislikes talking, the primary reason for this being his inability to say certain words without speaking so slowly that he sounds just as smart as the humans say he is...which isn't very smart.
[the rebels] Gold doesn't know why, but the rebels irk him, even that snake Idris who says he's his brother. Gold doesn't trust any of them at the moment- why should he? Idris could be lying for all he knows but still...the resemblance is uncanny, and well, there are only so many gold cobras in the world....
[Goldsbloom] It might seem slightly petty, but GOLD hates the House of Goldsbloom with a passion. He doesn't know why, but something about that entire house irks him, from that creepy old man of a head and don't think he hasn't heard the rumors about the son...and well as they say, like father like son, right? Oh yes- Gold is certainly not letting Nicholas near them. At least, not unless he's forced to.
Aspirations
- Keep Nicholas safe.
- Make Nicholas the head...that way he'll be able to keep an eye on him better.
- Somehow learn how to count all the way to 1000.
Fears
- Somehow, someway, he'll be separated from Nicholas
- Nicholas will finally get tired of him and abandon him like his previous owners
-He'll somehow hurt the people he cares about
Strengths:
-[loyal] One might not think a snake would be the most loyal of creatures but once you have Gold's loyalty, you have it forever. He trusts unconditionally once it's earned, devoting his every moment to making sure that his friends are safe and secure. Someone speaks against you? He'll tell them off. Someone tries to attack you? They won't get close enough to move.
-[stubborn] Is this a good trait? Gold isn't really sure. Still, it sounds nice enough- once he's got a thought stuck in his head, he rarely lets it go, following the idea through until it's complete. This has usually ended up saving his life more than once. Other times? Not so much...
-[contemplative] Gold isn't the type to rush in without thinking. No, he thinks over every little possibility in his head, running over every scenario possible until he finally comes up with, what to him, is the most suitable course of action.
Weaknesses
-[single-minded] Gold doesn't trust very easily, but when he does it tends to be with a single-mindedness that borders on obsession. He refuses to see any bad deed about someone he cares about, and denies it to the point that its near unhealthy.
- [gullible] You can tell Gold something and generally, he'll believe you without a doubt...provided he trusts you first of course. Once you gain his trust though, he'll believe anything and everything you say, not once doubting you for a minute. He's easy to take advantage of once you've got the means, and unfortunately, this is more common than Gold would like.
- [selfless] One might not think this is a flaw, but Gold takes this trait to the point of insanity. He has little concern for his own welfare, and is instead more concerned about how his friends/allies are doing. As such, he's easy to injure, and vulnerable to manipulations that concern his friend's welfare.
Habits:
- When nervous, he tends to bite his lip or fidget, usually rubbing his hands together.
-He constantly checks to see whether or not Nicholas is in the room, even when he knows the other boy isn't.
-He doesn't like his food to touch, so when eating, he always has to separate it first.
Overall Personality:
A rather quiet individual, Gold is more prone to worried frowns then smiles and is single minded when it comes loyalty. He tends to be overprotective of his friends, guarding them with an almost fanatical fervor and as such, is sometimes teased about this. He is fairly good natured, with a sense of humor that is buried somewhere deep down beneath his quiet exterior.
He dislikes fighting but isn't afraid to start a fight if it means protecting those he considers friends. He constantly fears that Nicholas, both his master and perhaps his best (and currently only) friend, will get tired of him, and as such, he tends to try to be more protective than usual (sometimes smothering the other boy in the process without meaning to) as if he can somehow prolong what he fears to be the inevitable.
Other Notes: When Gold gets extremely excited or riled up, his speech tends to dissolve more, reverting to something that sounds like a series of unintelligible hisses rather than speech.
HISTORICAL FACTS
Birthplace: Outskirts. Or at least, he's fairly sure that's where he was born. Most hybrids who aren't born pets are born there, and well, Gold wasn't born a pet. He has vague memories of the time before his domestication, though they aren't the clearest of things.
Parents: Gold doesn't know his parents, and he doubts they're still alive. And from what Idris has told him? Well, they died a long time ago...probably around the time he was taken.
Siblings: Idris Aadi Sen or so the other says. Gold's not to sure on the fact, but well, they do look enough alike. That, and cobras-particularly those of the golden variety, aren't the most common things about.
Education: Education- if you mean counting by numbers than Gold can do that. Nicholas taught him to count by using tens- and after he reaches ten sets of ten (or 100 as Nicholas called it), Gold is fairly sure he's screwed. More than ten sets of ten can get a bit complicated. As for reading? Gold can pick out some letters, and if he sounds out a word he's fairly sure he can get it. He's getting better though- Nicholas has him started on chapter books soon, saying no pet of his will be dumb and well, Gold's not dumb. Uneducated, maybe. But dumb? No, definitely not that.
History:
Gold doesn't know much of his history-most of what he remembers are events of the past few years. Everything before that? A blur. Still, from what Idris, his so called brother has told him, Gold was born to two feral cobras in the outskirts and it was on his fourth birthday, when Idris had been out, that a hybrid collector had attacked.
Apparently, Gold was lost during the panic, and picked up by the hybrid collector and taken to a local humane society. Gold vaguely remembers something like that, so he supposes Idris is probably telling him the truth.
After all, he has a blurry recollection of being in a building for a while-apparently exotic breeds took longer to adopt (special permits or so Gold thinks) but Gold is fairly sure he was adopted a year after he was put on display by the Goldsbloom family in the hopes that having a cobra would give them an edge in the pit fights.
Unfortunately, once they was found out that Gold hadn't had his venom sacs removed from his mouth and as such, was still quite venomous, he was found to be too much a danger during the spars, much less the fights themselves, and within two years of his adoption, he was sent back to a hybrid shelter, this time the HHS. Besides, who really wanted to see a spar where the fighter spat at someone? Most didn't really.
After that, Gold is pretty sure he was set up for adoption once more, and once it became apparent that few were willing to adopt a cobra, there were talks of him being euthanized as he was taking up space and the HHS couldn't spend more money on him then they had to. Gold had heard rumors after all, and as such, became a little panicked. Nobody wants to be euthanized after all. Least of all Gold. Of course this of course was all halted by a meeting that Gold felt changed his life forever.
Because that was when Nicholas walked in, peered in his cage, and without a bat of an eyelash, threw a tantrum right then and there that he be allowed the rights to Gold. And as abrupt as it might have been, Gold can't help but remember the gleam in the other boy's eyes as he overheard the attendents of the HHS murmuring about his fate moments before moments before the impromptu fit. And so, whether Nicholas is aware of it or not (though Gold's fairly sure that the other boy is aware of it) Nicholas saved his life. And whether the act was intentional or not, well he's got Gold's loyalty forever even though he was only ten when it happened.
Besides, Nicholas is the one who named him, who gave him purpose. And shouldn't Gold be thankful for that?

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
It was cold.
Really, really cold.
Teeth chattering, Ibraheem grit his eyes together, hands fisting into little balls as he curled up against the corner of his cell. It wasn?t too small of a thing, the cell, and had a blanket and a small toy for him to play with, but still, the blanket provided little heat.
And the workers had forgotten to turn the heat lamp on...and since it was winter...Well, needless to say Ibraheem was freezing his tail off. Or at least he would be freezing it off if he actually had one. Curling tighter into a ball in an effort to suction what little heat there was in the cold concrete that made up three fourths of the cell he was in, Ibraheem sighed, flinching as his hazy eyes caught the white vapors of his breath misting in the air.
Snakes were never meant for the cold- least of all cobras. Already he could feel his eyes beginning to blur, the world spinning as he fought to stay awake and conserve heat. In this temperature he knew the chances that he?d wake after falling asleep wouldn?t be very high. He?d seen a snake he?d fallen into hypothermic shock and well, it hadn?t been a pretty sight. The boa?s body had been stiff, his lips blue and his body all hunched in on itself. Ibraheem didn?t want that to happen to him.
He could hear other hybrids snoring in their cells, no doubt comforted by the warmth that came with having warm blood and for a brief moment, Ibraheem envied them, envied the way they didn?t have to shudder every time a small wind brushed by.
What a relief it must be for them, to always be warm even when their minds told them they were cold. Eyes narrowing, Ibraheem bit back one last shudder and curled around himself tighter, pulling his arms tight to his chest and tucking his legs beneath the cocoon of his elbows, forming what almost would have been a human pretzel, had he actually been a human.
Slowly, ever so slowly, he could feel his eyelids beginning to droop against his will, slowly slipping down until he could see nothing but the back of his eyelids, everything shuttered in a black blanket...and against Ibraheem's will, he fell asleep.
His last thought before the world went black for the final time was perhaps, it might not be better to wake after all.
"Hss!"
Chest heaving, Gold shot up, orange eyes wide and he rubbed away the sweat glistening on his forehead. Rubbing his eyes, the Cobra hybrid gulped, glancing towards the shadowy darkness where Nicholas's bed lay, a few short paces from his own nest of cloths and blankets. The room was almost muggily warm, the air hot and humid with a sense of staleness that could only be brought about by recycled air fresh from the odd contraptions the Silverhollow scientists had built.
Despite the evident heat, Gold couldn't help but shudder, a muted whimper hissing its way from his throat to alight in the air. It wasn't loud, barely more than a whisper of wind, but Gold froze none the less, his eyes locked on Nicholas's sleeping form before his eyes softened and the phantom chill abated and with a yawn, Gold curled back once more into the small burrow of ripped cloth and old blankets that he had made in his little 'nest'. Even when in sleep, Nicholas still managed to comfort him.
The other boy was always a reminder of what he had now.
And as always, Gold would be forever thankful to him.
