Moki Keawe Sorreson-Silverhollow
DATA
Class: Nobleman-Middie, Scientist.
Because of his lineage most people consider Moki a Middie regardless of his biological father’s rank in society. Born of a Middie woman he is often referred to and treated as a Middie not an adopted nobleman.
Name: Moki Keawe Sorreson-Silverhollow (Mow-key Kay-ah-wah Soar-rah-son Silver-hollow).
Although legally and biologically a Silverhollow Moki doesn’t really mind being referred to (usually mockingly) as Sorreson instead of Silverhollow.
Nickname(s): He doesn’t have any real nicknames but he prefers to be called by his surname. (Although his mother did call him “Kiwi.”)
Birthday: February 29th, 3012
House: Silverhollow of course. What? You expect him to be part of those other intellectually inferior houses?
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eye Color: Moki’s eyes are a hazel color that is orange in the right light. He inherited these eyes from his mother even though his father was blue-eyed.
Hair Color: Black and shoulder length. Males with overly long hair might as well be women.
Height: 5’3” (160.02 cm)
Weight: 113.60 lbs (51.53 kg)
Build:
Being a man with scholarly interests Moki doesn’t see the purpose of being brutishly strong. Although he does have some muscle on his body it is just for endurance, otherwise he is unimpressive.
Distinguishing Features:
Moki doesn’t really have any distinguishing features. Besides his stature he is by all standards normal and only has a few almost unnoticeable burns and scars on his arms because of his experiments.
Typical Dress:
Moki likes to wear clothes with numerous pockets (usually deep ones) in them so he can store books, papers, pens, notepads, etc. For him function defines form and he will not willingly wear something that doesn’t have a practical purpose (for example, the long neck ruffles he’s seen in Elizabethan books that denoted status). At times this tendency of his makes him appear more like a common man than a noble, and it is one of the reasons why he is treated as more of a Middie. He’ll wear nearly any color and style, and doesn’t really care if his clothes match all that much (although somehow they usually do color wise).
If he has to go to a formal party or outing he’ll usually wear the type of clothing displayed above with black pants. He loathes to wear these garments but doesn’t show it; after all he is a gentleman and doesn’t want to ruin the host’s party by acting sour.
For shoes Moki opts for either black or white boots or black dress shoes because they “match everything.” He wears a thin golden necklace around his neck with a fish pendant, the only thing he has left to remind him of his mother (he usually keeps this tucked inside his shirt). Around his right wrist he wears a simple silver watch to tell him the time with the numbers going from one to twelve and under those thirteen to twenty-four. An odd watch it has not the typical three hands but six and they are colored purple and blue. Moki also carries not only a Magna-Weapon with him at all times but a gun for protection in case he needs it (which of course he has licenses for).
Orientation:
Sexual preference? He doesn’t have time to pursue any romantic interest he may have, and two problems would need to be solved before he even attempted to: his stature doesn’t exactly scream “attractive” to either sex and his social skills are miserably lacking.
Other Notes:
His face claim is Jude Mathis from Tales of Xillia.
PERSONALITY
Age: 28
Likes:
[Experiments] Moki loves to conduct experiments on almost any hypothesis provided. He’ll spend days holed up in the laboratory only emerging for necessities (which doesn’t include showering) and often has to be dragged out of the lab when he is engrossed in a project.
[Animals] Contrary to their popularity Moki does not seek the companionship of hybrids. Sure they can talk to you, but he’d rather have something to pet and raise fairly quickly into adulthood. With their long childhood Moki doesn’t like hybrids as a pet choice and is planning on procuring a non-hybrid pet.
[Mystery Novels] Who doesn’t love a good mystery novel? Moki enjoys solving the mysteries before the end of the stories (even if on occasion he is mistaken) and always has a paperback one folded in his pocket.
[Music] Music provides an escape for Moki and his problems and he is open to all types of music (provided they aren’t too loud).
[Mind games] Moki enjoys good-natured mind games. They allow him to exercise his brain and occupy himself for some time, and he feels a sense of accomplishment when he works out the answer.
Dislikes:
[His name] Honestly were his parents on hallucinogenics when they named him? “Moki” isn’t exactly the most dignified name for a scientist or even a layman! When confronted with his name people often assume that he is a hybrid, a comparison that peeves him.
[Blood] Moki hates blood. The sight of it makes him faint on most occasions and he’ll only stay fully conscious if he is the only one there to help the injured person. Even the blood from small cuts makes him queasy and if he doesn’t faint he runs out of the room so he doesn’t vomit at the sight.
[Change] Being a person who feels secure with routine Moki dislikes change. Change ruins his schedules and brings with it a factor of the unknown, and it can ruin his day. Don’t think he’s totally insane; he can deal with small changes like different tea being sold at his favorite shop but not things like wars.
[Touch] Moki dislikes unwanted physical contact. It makes him uncomfortable and he sees no purpose for it unless he invites it; people should not touch him without his permission.
[Sports] Not being as athletic as some of the other scientists he works with Moki doesn’t appreciate when they invite him to play. Well intentioned though they are he doesn’t fancy being pushed to the floor or dog-piled by others (not to mention people bleed during games!).
Aspirations:
[Assertive] He would like to be more assertive when it comes to what he wants because frankly he’s sick of being stepped on. Perhaps if he was more assertive he could actually talk with people.
[Own a hybrid] Although he does prefer real animals to hybrids he does want to own one. They intrigue him, and he would like someone to talk to, if just sparingly so.
[Experiment] Moki wants to conduct and take the credit for an experiment he designed himself. In fact he already has one in mind.
[Children] Moki would like to have a family of his own but well...there aren't a lot of mating oppurtunities for a socially inept nerd that spends most of his time in the lab. Perhaps he'll adopt.
Fears:
[Clowns] Although he knows it is irrational to fear clowns he can’t help but scream every time one startles him or tries to make him laugh. This fear stems from when he was a child and clowns surrounded him during the circus.
[Caves] Yeah. Not the biggest fan. Caves are dark, echo-y, and they stir loneliness within the soul. Faced with such a place Moki vehemently refuses to enter and states that that sort of place is “a prime place for a slaughter.”
[Heights] Well, falling from them would be more accurate. Although he does feel uneasy when he’s high up he can look down from there if he is secured by something and won’t fall. Want him to tell you something? Stick him high over a cave opening full of clowns and threaten to drop him.
Strengths:
[Persistent] If he truly cares about something Moki can be dogged in his pursuit of it and won’t take no for an answer.
[Loyal] In spite of his social awkwardness once Moki does acquire a friend he is extremely loyal and cares for them greatly. If they need help he will try his best to lend a hand, and can sometimes be obnoxious in his persistent attempts at helping.
[Knowledge] Moki knows a plethora of both useless and useful facts. If someone needs to know something and he is privy to that information he will either utter it under his breath or tell them if they ask.
[Open-minded] Moki is a very open-minded person and it takes quite a lot to turn him off. He doesn’t care what gender others prefer sexually, what their view on the different races are, or it they agree on the experiments he takes part in. Raucous people or those that are extremely aggressive in asserting their opinions however make him angry and he tends to avoid them like the plague.
[Polite] Hey he's a noblemen remember? Of course he knows proper ettiquet and practices it daily.
[Reflexes] Moki has good reflexes and reacts quickly to stimuli. Things that fall are almost always caught by him (which is great when the lab is packed).
Weaknesses:
[Social Skills] Moki has a tendency to get flustered when speaking with people. He feels nervous and feels that personal questions (even the customary “how was your day?”) are intrusive and tries to stay away from talking to people. He’s already a nerd, he doesn’t need to be classified as a socially inept nerd.
[Commanding] Moki doesn’t inspire respect or fear among people. He is short, has a soft voice, and isn’t completely great at talking with people. When he tries to order someone around they usually laugh in his face and disregard his command.
[Passive] Moki is a passive person. He is perfectly content to let people do as they please around him as long as they don’t affect him or his experiments. People often take advantage of him because of this trait and he is commonly seen as a pushover (which in most instances he is).
Habits:
[Reading] During his free time he is often seen reading a book and sipping a cup of tea. If approached while engrossed in a book he will not stop reading but will listen to the person (of course this is often seen as rude).
[Walkabout] If Moki feels like it he will walk around the different sectors and visit places where he knows music (good music) is played.
[Spacer] When off in a reverie Moki tends to stare off in space. If this psace happens to be directed at a person then they usually mistake that he is staring at them, and they move away awkwardly. As he thinks his expressions change accordingly.
[Pet window shopper] When he’s really truly bored Moki takes a stroll down to the Hybrid Humane Society and looks at the hybrids. He is curious about them and likes to see the different personalities displayed.
[Shorthand] When he is in a hurry to jot something down Moki will write in shorthand that he understands. A sentence that started out as “15th of June, 2035 Sunrise was extremely beautiful today, don’t forget to go pick up eggs at the market” would turn into “15.6.2035 *[insert up arrow that messes up post] ++good 0e.”
Overall Personality:
Moki is a person who prefers his solitude and is shy approaching people. Stuck in books for the majority of his life Moki never figured out how to interact with people and people often misinterpret his personality as anti-social and boring. He’s helpful, loyal, caring and his idiosyncrasies are things to laugh about not mock. With the people he knows he’s more open and animated, laughing softly at jokes and becoming whiny like a child if he doesn’t get what he wants. As most who get to know him will see Moki is not an exclusively introverted person, but a complicated individual who is in some ways unpredictable. Nevertheless he is commonly labeled as the anti-social nerd.

HISTORICAL FACTS
Birthplace: In a hospital room in the Silverhollow Sector.
Parents:
[Father, adoptive and biological, age 65] Zacharius Cross Silverhollow.
Although a bit awkward around his illegitimate child at first Zacharius did his best to raise his son and was glad to finally have a child of his own.
[Father, husband of Marian, deceased, age 50] Noah Nanta Sorreson.
Although he knew from the moment Moki was born that he wasn't his son he cared for him as if he was, and taught him to do things that all boys should know. Noah is the one that gave Moki his treasured toy soldier (shown above).
[Mother, biological, deceased, age 47] Marian Snow Sorreson.
Sweet and indulging she taught Moki the importance of education and taught him the best she could when she had time. Moki still has fond memories of them sitting and reading together and him falling asleep in her lap.
Siblings: None, but he wishes he did so he could have someone to talk to.
Education:
Moki had a typical education for a nobleman with personal tutors that tutored him on every subject. Sure he was an illegitimate child conceived out of wedlock but Zacharius decided to provide for his one and only heir as best he could. Moki was tutored all day long and quickly soaked up the material, and he began to specialize as he grew older. He is proficient in all subjects and has his own personal library in his room.
History:
Moki was born to Noah Nanta Sorreson and Marian Snow Sorreson. An only child to a Middie family he spent his early yeards indoors playing with his tinker-toys, reading and writing. His parents were loving to him and provided him with virtually everything he needed as long as he worked for it. Although he could spend time with his peers Moki never fancied running about and acting silly, and so he had few friends.
His pleasant life was changed when his father decided that he was old enough to know the truth. At the age of five Moki learned that he wasn’t his father’s child; his biological father was a man by the name of Zacharius Cross Silverhollow. In retrospect Moki should have realized it sooner; his mother was a hazel-eyed blond while his father was a redhead with green eyes. At first the five year old didn’t know what to make of the news—how could he have two fathers?—but then he decided that if he had another father he should meet him. His parents being in the business of party planning it was easy for Moki to catch a glimpse of his biological father, and he studied Zacharius’s idiosyncrasies and habits, his preferences and demeanor. Now Moki wasn’t too subtle about this—he’d often accompany his parents to parties (without their knowledge) and peek over walls and through windows to conspicuously watch Zacharius like a hawk. Of course this stalking didn’t go unnoticed by Zacharius and he soon approached the young boy.
Although he was anxious to finally meet his father face-to-face Moki blatantly declared that he was the noble’s son. Of course Zacharius didn’t believe him. He couldn’t have children—he’d tried for the majority of his 42 years of life! So a child was, surely, impossible. Nevertheless he kept close tabs on the boy and was his parent’s “anonymous” beneficiary so Moki could have the best life possible.
Until his parents died. He was eight and a half when they simultaneously died of smallpox, and Moki found himself at the orphanage with other children like himself. It was during this period of his life that he became extremely introverted and avoided people like the plague—loathing touch because he figured he would contract smallpox like his parents and perish. He lost himself in what few books the orphanage had and began to make things out of trash to entertain himself. Overall Moki spoke to only a few orphans and instead chose his toy soldier as his confidant. He told it the most intimate thoughts in his mind from nearly suicidal to elated to frustrated, and recounted every even that happened (like those people coming to take his blood).
This all changed again abruptly when he was visited by Zacharius and adopted on the spot. Uprooted from his life he was taken to live at the Silverhollow mansion and was astounded at every turn. He had his own private room, personal teachers, servants, toys, clean clothes, a daily bath and three meals a day—plus snacks whenever he wanted some! Yet he felt awkward around the strangers and still didn’t want to be touched, and only allowed Zacharius to touch him because he was all he had left of a parent. He grew to care for the man and eventually affectionately called him “Pop-pop.”
After the adoption the rest of Moki’s life was fairly easy. He was tutored in every subject and given whatever he wanted at his whim, and had servants to cater to his desires. Not that he used them much. Being the loner he was he didn’t use his servants often and when he did he used the words “please” and “thank you.”
At the age of sixteen Moki was accepted into a revolutionary experiment to create devices that could detect and destroy Metal-Men. Intrigued by the idea he gratefully accepted the invitation and began working alongside other scientist. Luckily for him he wasn’t a “test subject” (a person who held metal to see if the devices worked) as those persons often ended up hurt due to technical malfunctions after the devices became more advanced (the injuries varied greatly but no limbs needed to be amputated and afterwards hybrids were used). Moki enjoyed the experimenting and often created prototypes in his room that he never took to the lab because they wouldn’t work as Magna-Weapons. At age 25, after nearly ten years of research, the Magna-Weapon project was finished and Moki was able to pursue other experiments.
None were as prestigious as the Magna-Weapons project was but they did serve to occupy some time and, with the breaks he had he was able to scrounge some time for himself. Moki was able to think about the future and began to dream of a family, a notion he still entertains to this day. He wants a family of his own and is willing to adopt but doubts how effective he would be as a parent. As for pets, Moki’s always wanted one but any pet he would buy, at least in the hybrid race, would be subject to his intelligence experiments and so might not feel a part of his “family.”
GOSSIP
Shh don't tell.
Shh don't tell.
Known Facts:
- He never has anything interesting to talk about unless it is about his experiments.
- He’s a pushover—literally you can push him over and he probably won’t do a thing!
- He worked on the Magna-Weapon project.
Rumors:
- He isn’t really Zacharius’s son.
- He treats hybrids like humans and not the animals they are.
- He’s good with a gun and has an extensive collection hidden somewhere in his room.
- He is infatuated with Clara Anne Whitestag.
Secrets:
- He once made an algorithm for making friends.
- The reason why he wants a hybrid is because he wants to conduct an experiment—are hybrids as unintelligent as is purported? Moki would settle for any hybrid but he would prefer a bat or some sort of aquatic hybrid because frankly he thinks they’re cool.
- That watch on his arm? It’s really a prototype of a Magna-Weapon, but only serves to detect Metal-Men not destroy them. Because it acts similarly to a Geiger counter and not a weapon this prototype was scrapped.
- He wants to leave the city. Moki is curious as to what lies outside the city limits and why they have a wall—what could possibly be out there?

Take one, it's free.
“Shine your shoes for you, Sir?”
“Hm?” Turning around at the inquiry Moki cast his hazel gaze to meet the eyes of a small child. The young boy who was no more than eight was holding a dirty rag up eagerly to the young man who despite his shabby attire had the air of a nobleman. Looking over the child Moki saw that he was in tattered clothing that was too large for him and was filthy from head to toe. Still…Sighing lightly Moki nodded and sat down for the boy to clean his shoes. He knew that the rag would only serve to dirty his boots but Moki didn’t care; this child needed money to survive one more day out in the streets.
Shoes fully “shined” he paid the child double his fee and went on his way. It was winter and the snow fell steadily around him, but the streets were still packed with Middies going about their business and Poor beggars. He walked the streets by himself and listened to the sounds all around him wanting simultaneously to be a part of the Christmas festivities and to be alone. But how could he be a part of something if he couldn’t interact with people? Being twenty-eight years of age he should have acquired that skill by now but being a scholar he had not (unfortunately).
Turning a corner his ears were greeted by the sound of laughter from a pub. Drawing closer he stood in front of the window with hands in his pockets and observed the people inside. Glasses of liquor were being passed around as if they were mere papers, and both the drunkards and the servers were laughing gaily. People were singing atop a raised stage or else trying to and failing miserably yet still having fun.
A smile, small as it was, made its way onto Moki’s face and he pushed the door open. As he entered the pub the sounds grew louder but nobody minded his presence. Meandering to a free table in the corner he sat down and ordered himself a drink. He watched as the people went about their business and interacted with each other and in some way felt a part of the community. It was an odd concept to him that he should feel more a part of the Middie and Poor community than the Noble one, and he wondered if it was justifiable that he was treated like a Middie.
Shaking his head of such notions—he’d ventured out to escape such thoughts—he thanked the waitress for his drink and went back to watching the pub goers. Later he would go to the Hybrid Humane Society to view the hybrids some more and chat with Victor Valentine, and might even get the nerve to adopt a hybrid. Or perhaps an orphan…Now wouldn’t that be a merry Christmas?
