Moki Keawe Sorreson-Silverhollow
nicknameHe doesn’t have any real nicknames but he prefers to be called by his surname. (Although his mother did call him “Kiwi.”) agetwenty-eight gendermale classNobleman-Middie, Scientist. Because of his lineage most people consider Moki a Middie regardless of his biological father’s rank in society. Born of a Middie woman he is often referred to and treated as a Middie not an adopted nobleman. sexualitySexual preference? He doesn’t have time to pursue any romantic interest he may have, and two problems would need to be solved before he even attempted to: his stature doesn’t exactly scream “attractive” to either sex and his social skills are miserably lacking. play byJude Mathis, Tales of Xillia
personal
personalityMoki is a person who prefers his solitude and is shy approaching people. Stuck in books for the majority of his life Moki never figured out how to interact with people and people often misinterpret his personality as anti-social and boring. He’s helpful, loyal, caring and his idiosyncrasies are things to laugh about not mock. With the people he knows he’s more open and animated, laughing softly at jokes and becoming whiny like a child if he doesn’t get what he wants. As most who get to know him will see Moki is not an exclusively introverted person, but a complicated individual who is in some ways unpredictable. Nevertheless he is commonly labeled as the anti-social nerd. appearanceBeing a man with scholarly interests Moki doesn’t see the purpose of being brutishly strong. Although he does have some muscle on his body it is just for endurance, otherwise he is unimpressive. The 5'3'' man has a few almost unnoticeable burns and scars on his arms because of his experiments.
Moki likes to wear clothes with numerous pockets (usually deep ones) in them so he can store books, papers, pens, notepads, etc. For him function defines form and he will not willingly wear something that doesn’t have a practical purpose (for example, the long neck ruffles he’s seen in Elizabethan books that denoted status). At times this tendency of his makes him appear more like a common man than a noble, and it is one of the reasons why he is treated as more of a Middie. He’ll wear nearly any color and style, and doesn’t really care if his clothes match all that much (although somehow they usually do color wise). If he has to go to a formal party or outing he’ll usually wear the type of clothing displayed above with black pants. He loathes to wear these garments but doesn’t show it; after all he is a gentleman and doesn’t want to ruin the host’s party by acting sour.
For shoes Moki opts for either black or white boots or black dress shoes because they “match everything.” He wears a thin golden necklace around his neck with a fish pendant, the only thing he has left to remind him of his mother (he usually keeps this tucked inside his shirt). Around his right wrist he wears a simple silver watch to tell him the time with the numbers going from one to twelve and under those thirteen to twenty-four. An odd watch it has not the typical three hands but six and they are colored purple and blue. Moki also carries not only a Magna-Weapon with him at all times but a gun for protection in case he needs it (which of course he has licenses for). historyMoki was born to Noah Nanta Sorreson and Marian Snow Sorreson. An only child to a Middie family he spent his early yeards indoors playing with his tinker-toys, reading and writing. His parents were loving to him and provided him with virtually everything he needed as long as he worked for it. Although he could spend time with his peers Moki never fancied running about and acting silly, and so he had few friends.
His pleasant life was changed when his father decided that he was old enough to know the truth. At the age of five Moki learned that he wasn’t his father’s child; his biological father was a man by the name of Zacharius Cross Silverhollow. In retrospect Moki should have realized it sooner; his mother was a hazel-eyed blond while his father was a redhead with green eyes. At first the five year old didn’t know what to make of the news—how could he have two fathers?—but then he decided that if he had another father he should meet him. His parents being in the business of party planning it was easy for Moki to catch a glimpse of his biological father, and he studied Zacharius’s idiosyncrasies and habits, his preferences and demeanor. Now Moki wasn’t too subtle about this—he’d often accompany his parents to parties (without their knowledge) and peek over walls and through windows to conspicuously watch Zacharius like a hawk. Of course this stalking didn’t go unnoticed by Zacharius and he soon approached the young boy.
Although he was anxious to finally meet his father face-to-face Moki blatantly declared that he was the noble’s son. Of course Zacharius didn’t believe him. He couldn’t have children—he’d tried for the majority of his 42 years of life! So a child was, surely, impossible. Nevertheless he kept close tabs on the boy and was his parent’s “anonymous” beneficiary so Moki could have the best life possible.
Until his parents died. He was eight and a half when they simultaneously died of smallpox, and Moki found himself at the orphanage with other children like himself. It was during this period of his life that he became extremely introverted and avoided people like the plague—loathing touch because he figured he would contract smallpox like his parents and perish. He lost himself in what few books the orphanage had and began to make things out of trash to entertain himself. Overall Moki spoke to only a few orphans and instead chose his toy soldier as his confidant. He told it the most intimate thoughts in his mind from nearly suicidal to elated to frustrated, and recounted every even that happened (like those people coming to take his blood).
This all changed again abruptly when he was visited by Zacharius and adopted on the spot. Uprooted from his life he was taken to live at the Silverhollow mansion and was astounded at every turn. He had his own private room, personal teachers, servants, toys, clean clothes, a daily bath and three meals a day—plus snacks whenever he wanted some! Yet he felt awkward around the strangers and still didn’t want to be touched, and only allowed Zacharius to touch him because he was all he had left of a parent. He grew to care for the man and eventually affectionately called him “Pop-pop.”
After the adoption the rest of Moki’s life was fairly easy. He was tutored in every subject and given whatever he wanted at his whim, and had servants to cater to his desires. Not that he used them much. Being the loner he was he didn’t use his servants often and when he did he used the words “please” and “thank you.”
At the age of sixteen Moki was accepted into a revolutionary experiment to create devices that could detect and destroy Metal-Men. Intrigued by the idea he gratefully accepted the invitation and began working alongside other scientist. Luckily for him he wasn’t a “test subject” (a person who held metal to see if the devices worked) as those persons often ended up hurt due to technical malfunctions after the devices became more advanced (the injuries varied greatly but no limbs needed to be amputated and afterwards hybrids were used). Moki enjoyed the experimenting and often created prototypes in his room that he never took to the lab because they wouldn’t work as Magna-Weapons. At age 25, after nearly ten years of research, the Magna-Weapon project was finished and Moki was able to pursue other experiments.
None were as prestigious as the Magna-Weapons project was but they did serve to occupy some time and, with the breaks he had he was able to scrounge some time for himself. Moki was able to think about the future and began to dream of a family, a notion he still entertains to this day. He wants a family of his own and is willing to adopt but doubts how effective he would be as a parent. As for pets, Moki’s always wanted one but any pet he would buy, at least in the hybrid race, would be subject to his intelligence experiments and so might not feel a part of his “family.”
